My debt to you paid in full.’ zooming out, we see he is in a barrel. zooming farther out, he seems to break the fourth wall, yelling, ‘Hey! That's it?! Geez!’ vash sits cross legged with his eyes closed in concentration and his hair down. it's captioned ‘Followed by morning meditation. Don't kill anyone!’ vash pours himself a mug of tea as he says, ‘I've got an appointment.’ wolfwood looks shocked, asking, ‘Say what?! With who?’ vash responds with smug cheer, 'That's a se–cr–et.’ wolfwood yells at him, ‘What the hell?! Quit actin’ like a moron!’ vash is indignant, saying, 'You're keeping things from me too! Fair is fair!’ to this, wolfwood does not respond vash smiles big, saying, ‘Oh, hey. You're Brad, aren't you? Wow, you've really grown up!’ brad grits his teeth. vash pats the head of a kid he was playing with, telling them, ‘Okay, you guys. I've got to talk to these nice men now… so, we're done for today.’ brad squints, groaning, ‘Shit! These outsiders are barbarians!’ someone begins pushing through the crowd, yelling, ‘‘Scuse me! Pardon me! Comin’ through!’ it's revealed to be wolfwood, crawling under a lady's skirt while holding a bowl of ramen, the lady yelling at him, ‘Ah! Hey! What do you think you're doing! Eek!’ the lady hits him on the head, wolfwood not paying attention and eating his ramen intently. someone in the crowd says, ‘Well, well. What do we have here? Ooh? A siege, huh?’ vash yells, 'That's it!’ with a ticked off expression. wolfwood calls to him, worriedly, ‘‘That's it’?! Hey! Wait a damn minute!’ vash pulls out his gun with a flourish, wolfwood yelling, ‘Don’t you-!’ vash cuts him off by firing into the air rem shows vash a geranium, telling him, ‘Back on Earth, there are lots and lots of different kinds of flowers. People think of them as very precious things.’ vash considers this with a thoughtful hum and asks, ‘Can you eat them?’ rem smiles patiently, and after a pause, answers, ‘You can eat some flowers.’ doc makes a concerned face, saying, ‘If you're uncertain about him… then you need to use more than your head.’ wolfwood sits on a barrel and lights a cigarette, thinking to himself, ‘Those who are too foolish will never learn to solve their problems effectively, no matter how hard they try. Every time they will push the limits… and every time they're gonna regret the outcome.’ he smiles wickedly as the smoke dances around him, continuing, ‘Now that the stakes have been raised, are you gonna end up regrettin’ the outcome or will ya be singin’ with the angels? If ya die, then all I've told you would be wasted… seems like my luck will be tested, too. So, whatcha gonna do, needle-noggin?’ wolfwood is fuming, yelling, ‘Why don't you drive for once?! Ya idiot!’ vash makes a face, saying, ‘Well, you see…’ as vash tries to drive the motorcycle, he explains, ‘I…can't…drive these things!’ ending with vash crashing the motorcycle and launching them both into the sand as they ride on the motorcycle, vash looks at wolfwood with a frown, asking, ‘Come to think of it, you never did tell me… How do you… know so much about Knives?’ to this, wolfwood does not respond vash is in a fight with rai-dei the blade. he's sweaty, with tears pricking in his eyes, saying, ‘Gee, I’m SO happy you liked it! Can I go now?’ the swordsman says nothing, only raising his weapon, and vash yells to wolfwood, ‘Dammit, Wolfwood! Do something!’ wolfwood looks small, raising a hand and saying, ‘Uh… It's no place for a… bystander like me to interfere with the loony showdown of the century. vash yells back at him, ‘I’ll get you for this, you demon priest!’ vash stands with his coattails dancing around him and his gun pointed at us. a close up of his face shows his determined look as he clutches a bullet in his teeth vash bends over where rai-dei sits on the ground, his gun aimed at him, and says, ‘This is where it ends. Now, promise you won't kill people any more.’ rai-dei glares at him. vash smiles back and begins walking away, saying, ‘C’mon. Leading a normal life… it's not so bad, y’know.’ vash peeks from around a corner wearily as a kid tied to a chair says, ‘Ah, great! Hey, you! Can you get this rope?’ vash steps out wobbly and collapses to the ground meryl and milly sit on top of a collapsed ninelives, the latter saying, ‘Wow, just in the nick of time! You were in quite a pinch, huh, Mr. Priest?!’ meryl rubs her bottom, groaning, ‘Ow ow! Please, think a little before you act, Milly!’ from offscreen, someone calls, ‘Hey, Meryl, Milly! Are you alright?!’ wolfwood, who's standing behind them, looks disgruntled, saying, ‘What the…! You two?!’ vash, with his hair down, smiles. gently, he says, ‘Perfect timing. There's something I wanted to show you two.’ vash, meryl, and milly stand in a large room full of cold air. vash explains, ‘What you see here… is called a cold-sleep cylinder.’ the girls’ breaths come out in big, visible puffs. vash smiles, continuing, 'It's from a time long ago, before your grandparents were born.’ vash, in a hoodie and with his hair down, and wolfwood, in a sweater, lean against a wall. vash offers his hand to wolfwood, who gives him a high five and shakes it with a small ‘Hmph.’ vash hanging onto a great worm for dear life, screaming his lungs out. he calls to wolfwood, ‘What are you doing, you lousy-shot priest?!’ who yells back, ‘Say what?! Who told ya to jump over there, ya idiot?!’ zazie the beast, who controls the worm, knocks vash off with a kick and a teasing, ‘Oopsy.’ vash screams as wolfwood yells, ‘YA MORON!’ marlon, the gunsmith, peeks out the window where vash is training with a different gun. he says, ‘Whoa-ho. He’s really going all out.’ outside, vash grimaces, looking at his gun hand, which has become raw and bloodied. he bandages it up, biting the end of the tape off when he's finished. milly and meryl look at vash incredulously. as vash pulls off his glasses and gives them a small smile, meryl thinks to herself, ‘I felt… his determination… is even stronger than the regret he carries.’ vash sits on the edge of a roof, the fifth moon with the hole he made in it visible behind him. he smiles ar wolfwood and says, ‘Just coming back now? You're a bit of a night owl, huh?’ wolfwood stares at him with contempt bounty hunters sit in the pew behind vash in a church and dangle his wanted post in his face. one asks him, ‘Hey! This is you, isn't it?’ vash smiles nervously and says, ‘What? This goofy looking guy? You must be joking.’ another of the hunters says, 'Don't be so cold, Mr. Popular.’ he aims his gun at vash's head before continuing, ‘You don't want your brains blown out in the house of God, do you?’ wolfwood sits in a restaurant eating a bowl of noodles, muttering to himself, ‘Ah… these are some great noodles. The balance between the noodles and the tasty broth is-’ he’s cut off by people outside yelling, ‘What?! The Humanoid Typhoon?! Don't know if he's the real deal or not! In front of the church, yeah?’ wolfwood sets down his bowl, grimacing, with noodles still hanging out of his mouth. vash picks up one of his coattails, which has been doused in liquid, and frowns. the next panel shows that he was carrying a bottle of liquor milly and meryl gasp in shock, and wolfwood peeks from around a corner. upon viewing the scene, he mutters, ‘Booze? Him? First thing in the mornin’? Ya gotta be kiddin’...’ vash laughs humorously, shaking his hand off, and raising it to his mouth to slurp off the remaining liquor. his face is shaded sharply, making his expression ominous. various scenes from vash and knives’ childhood. in one, vash is cooking food in a skillet, and tries to flip it nervously as knives and rem watch. in another, rem spectates a chess game between the boys, vash looking puzzled and knives smiling smugly, raising a glass. in the last, rem points to a large screen, and the twins take notes diligently. wolfwood, balancing the punisher on his shoulder and taking a drag from his cigarette, says, 'Don't mess with him. If ya do, yer in for a world of hurt.’ wolfwood grits his teeth and yells, ‘Shut up!’ elendira taunts him, ‘Aww, you're cute… when you're angry!’ wolfwood's face is partially out of the panel, fading into a flashback. a younger wolfwood, about 9 or so, holds a baby with annoyance. someone off screen says, ‘There, see? She only stops crying when Nicholas holds her.’ a close up on his face shows his eyebrows knit together as he says, ‘Aw, c’mon, gimme a break.’ wolfwood thinks to himself, ‘I know the women at the orphanage were really busy… but this was still a difficult job for a kid.’ a flashback shows a younger wolfwood pushing a baby stroller, grumbling, ‘I’m an orphan too, ain't I? I’m bein’ taken advantage of.’ the next panel shows him feeding the baby with a frown wolfwood bites into his holster of vials, the glass crunching between his teeth and dripping down his chin vash, with his nose bleeding, looks down. he then looks up at wolfwood meryl turns to see milly standing behind her. milly gives her a reassuring smile young knives stands in front of a giant sand worm, a determined look on his face vash looks at livio, holding a small box. he turns and presses a button on it, livio almost jumping out of his skin in fear livio smiles nervously, his hat resting on one finger and his cloak on the other, arrows pointing to them conspicuously. elendira looks pissed off at him vash laughs with faux confidence, saying, ‘Ah, no… that's not it… uh… I meant to say… I’m a lot older than I look!’ he leans in front of the people gathered behind him, stretching out an arm to block them. he continues, ‘A-a-and anyway! You’ll stop harassing this farm, as you promised.’ milly smiles thoughtfully, saying, ‘Facing a harsh reality is something you do here every day. You can't live if you let every little thing get you down.’ zooming out, we see both meryl and milly grinning widely. milly continues, ‘Welcome, Mr. Vance. It's a nice place, isn't it? We're still alive, so let's see what comes next.’ meryl holds out a microphone for vash to speak into, both drawn very vaguely. meryl points a finger, and says to someone off screen, ‘Hit it.’
